Day Two

Woke up this morning, I had no energy at all. Took us about 15 to 20 min. to get out of bed and of course, we had the Monday blues.  We had to go back to work after relaxing a nice weekend.

I know you are anxious to know how we are doing with our fasting. The night before last, we planned our juicing meals.   So when I wake up while Bethany is still sleeping, I went straight to the kitchen to make our morning juice.  I go and wake Bethany up to give her morning juice. and then head back to make our lunch juice. I put our lunch juice in our mason jars so that way the juice stays fresh. Finally, I cleaned our juice extractor and that is a lot of work.

It would take me to do this 30 min. It sound lots of work but we had a lot of energy.

This might be too much information for some folks. The bowel movement is not normal. The stool is much softer. Your urine will be clear like a waterfall! You must drink more than 8 cups of water when you go on a juice fast.

Ahh it feel so clean!

We went through Day 2, 8 more days to go!

God bless

Day One

First day passed.  WOW!  First thing in the morning was easy, lunch was bearable and at last, the evening was intolerable. Beth and I was very lethargic. I learned that this fasting is not for everyone. Bethany struggled the most because she enjoys food and she sees it as a fun activity.  She is one brave woman and I admire her for her hard work and effort.

On the other hand,  I am doing just AWESOME!

No..really, I am not kidding! Bethany and I agreed that I would struggled or failed at this because I am the one that has the tendency to eat "bad junky" food. I tend to eat midnight snack, and eat three in the morning, have snack between each meals, BBQ food and my nickname was "Cookie Monster". We both were proud that we made Day 1.

I noticed that my body suddenly is changing. When you eat solid food, it takes time to digest the food and of course, it takes more time when you feel full.  That is when overeating occurs. When you drink the fruits and veggies juice, you feel full much quicker.  One cup is almost equal full plate of veggies and fruits. Can you image how many calories compare to McDonald's meal to a full plate of healthy veggies and fruits? Here is an idea....

Now just remember, everyone is different. For example,  Bethany and I are facing different results She is always hungry and I am always full when we drink our juice.

First day,  I woke up 7 AM sharp and was waiting for Bethany to get up because I want to experience  this fasting with her. While I was waiting for her, I began to start this blog and I want to share our experience with friends and families. My goal is to motivate others that they can do it too.

Bethany woke up around 10 AM and yes...she loves to sleep in. We took pictures of ourselves before we started our fasting ( Warning: view might be unpleasant)

Oh Momma Mia!
Bethany and I were shocked after we looked at our pictures.  Now is the time to CHANGE our body!

Bethany's beginning weight was138.4
Frederick's beginning weight was 229.4

We made our first juice called, " Very Berry Elixir"
-1 cup Strawberries
-1 cup Raspberries
-1/2 cup Blueberries
-1 Cucumber Whole
-1 Tbsp. Agave Nectar

That was yummy! This gives you a boost of energy and it is very filling.
Fred score 5 out of 5.
Beth score 4 out of 5

Our Lunch is called, "Carrot Limeade Juice"

-6 Carrots
-1 Cucumber
- 2 Apples
- Thumb size Ginger
-1/2 Lime

We both agree that ginger was little too much.
Fred score 4 out of 5.
Beth score 3 out of 5

Then our dinner was called, " Mean Green Juice".

- 1 Cucumber
- 4 Celery Stalks
- 2 Apples
- 6 Kale Leaves
- 1/2 Lemon
- 1/2 in. Ginger

If you LOVE celery, then this is for you! I have to tell you that I am not big fan of celery.  The taste was a huge buzz kill!  Bethany like this drink and she wants to make this again later for the week. Oh boy, help me!!!

Beth score 4 out of 5

That night was pure torture! Super Bowl night with all the food commercials and facebook pictures of our friend's super bowl food such as wings, pizza, cheese dip with chips, pop and vice versa.

That did not help!

But!!! we went through Day ! 9 more days to go!

God bless

Willpower Fasting

Today is the day! Bethany and I decided that we need to change our eating habits and make our lifestyle happy and healthy. I was very inspired when I watched a documentary called, "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead". In this documentary, Joe Cross was an Australian man who was obese and he had a severe chronic skin disease which was slowly killing him.  He made a goal just to fast for 60 days only on Fruits and Vegetables juice. Of course, let me tell you a short story why I am doing this.

As you can see in my young age, I was very active;  played two sports: football and wrestling. I was taught to stay fit and to keep my weight in control. During my late teenage years probably 16-18, my weight was under 168 to 175 lbs with size 32 pant and Medium shirt. That time I felt confident and proud of my body.  I can tell you that I even had abs. Go me!
My eating habits and nonactive lifestyle started, when I entered at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. No more sport, no self control over food, stress at school, and change of lifestyle occurred. It only took a few years to change my life upside down. Just like my fingers snapped, and there it was.    (WARNING:  viewing might be offensive)

Just do the math here... I walked in Gallaudet at 175 pounds and within 5 years, I graduated from Gallaudet at 225 lbs.  That's ten pound a year I put on!!!! 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 +10 = 50!!!!! My jaw dropped.  I did not realized that I came to this heavy and I thought that because life was good at that time. With my roommate,  we LOVE FOOD! We ordered pizza and chicken wings and Chinese food.  This was a fun activity for us.  IT WAS MY OWN FAULT. I took the crime for eating that way I did and I let it happened.
Here are picture through the college first will be freshmen college each pictures will be one year after another.

2006-2007

2007-2008

2008-2009 (Bethany's Favorite)

2009-2010

As you can see, my face got bigger! AHHH Not really, you can not tell much changed.  Most people would guess that I am 200 lbs but ding, wrong answer! I am now just over 230 pounds. I gained 60 pounds in 7 years!   I am not even 6 foot tall, only 5' 10".  Doctors would considered me as Obese. Only thing that I can tell,  I was gaining the weight that my pants and shirts were getting larger. I was size 32 in. now I am on border line between 38 to 40 in. pant. I was wearing medium shirt and now, I wear X-Large t-shirt.

Not only I want to look good....Just like Joe Cross, I am developing a severe skin condition, "Eczema."  I have always had this condition but the more weight I gained, the more severe my Eczema gets.
I have it on my arms, and it begins to spread to my face, legs, back, hands, and eye lids... This is frustrating! I treated with medicine but it does not help and a new hot spot will pop on my skin on another area.  I believe if I do this fasting; it will decrease the symptoms of my Eczema or maybe eliminate the symptoms.

"Reducing stress, nervousness, anxiety, and depression may help prevent flares of eczema. Mind body techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy and autogenic training have been shown to help. Both techniques can also be combined with learning about eczema.
Avoiding eggs, fish, peanuts, and soy may help some people reduce flares, but it varies from person to person. Ask your doctor to help you determine if avoiding these foods in your diet might reduce how often you have a flare and how severe it is."

Another health problem, I have back problems. I have all the weight on my body especially my stomach area and my back can not support the weight. Both Eczema and aching back is affecting my sleeping.  I love my families to death. They are the world to me. I learned a lot from them . Both of my parents are heavy and overweight. From my understanding, they are working hard to lose their weight and they are still going (Keep It Up)!!! My Dad found out he had high blood pressure and diabetes. He had to take pills and change his low carb/low sugar diet.  He had a hard time adjusting to this diet. He still do. Still do. He did shedded some of his weight also and he is looking good. I realized that this is the time to do this fasting so I can feel better about myself and show that my family can do it too. It's all mental and willpower. I know the first few days, it will be difficult but,

Here to the future to a new happy, healthy life!  "Willpower" is the answer.

To be continued...you will see a before and after picture. You will see a daily juice fast plan and our experience with this fasting. Wish us luck! ... Thank you for your faith and  support in me and Bethany. Thanks for joining us.

God Bless
